Student update: take part in PhD research

02 June 2023

A doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of Surrey is looking for input from current African international doctoral students on their acculturation experiences in the UK as well as in the US.

Bettina Chioma Teegen is conducting research on acculturation experiences in the UK and the US. As current literature predominantly focuses on East and South Asian students, with the experiences of Sub-Saharan students being underrepresented, this study hopes to close the gap by narrating the experiences of African international doctoral students and bringing their voices to the forefront.

To be eligible to take part in Bettina’s study you must be a Sub-Saharan African international student currently enrolled in a doctoral programme at a UK or US institution on a student visa. The study involves a recorded one-on-one interview which will last about 60 minutes. Students can book their interview at their convenience through the link below.
