Experiencing the UK Graduate route

Last modified: 16 February 2023

The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), a member of UKCISA’s International Student Employability Group (ISEG), has provided international graduates with a platform to share their experiences of seeking employment in the UK after graduation.

In July 2021, the UK launched the Graduate route visa, allowing international students to remain in the UK to seek work for a two-year period (three years for PhD candidates) after graduation.

In April 2022, AGCAS embarked on a research project, funded by the UPP Foundation, designed to capture the experiences of international graduates seeking employment in the UK following the launch of the Graduate route visa. This project is part of broader efforts to support international student employability, with AGCAS working as part of ISEG.

The primary intention for the research was clear; to humanise the experiences of international graduates and provide them with a platform to tell their stories of seeking UK graduate employment. As part of this research, AGCAS invited international graduates to submit a case study of their story.
