SFA reinstates 2015/16 provisions for 2016/17

05 July 2016

Skills Funding Agency (SFA) in England has now released a 3rd version of its 2016/17 Funding Rules, for assessing fee status in further education for those aged 19 years and over. The Rules also apply to those on Apprenticeships.

Version 3 Funding Rules (1 July 2016) applies to an academic year starting on/after 1 August 2016 and, importantly, it reinstates all of the provisions that were in place in the 2015/16 Funding Rules. Therefore, this means that 2016/17 students can be assessed for fees using the same criteria as were used in 2015/16. In an earlier version of the 2016/17 rules, published in January 2016, SFA had introduced more restrictive provisions; referring FE fees assessors to the more complex HE fees regulations and removing other provisions which had been in place for several years.

Our public information on FE 19+ fees eligibility has been re-launched, to present the categories of eligible student for 2016/17.
