The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is consulting on draft Student Support regulations which would introduce new eligibility criteria for student support to allow
people who have a long residential connection to the UK to enter higher
education. This arises from a recent Supreme Court judgment
which required the government to consider adopting more tailored eligibility
criteria for those without settled status. The intention is that the new criteria would avoid
breaching the rights of similar applicants.
The deadline for responses is Friday 8 January 2016.
UKCISA will be responding to the consultation and seeking confirmation that changes to the fees regulations would also be made.
