The Immigration Minister has today announced a number of changes to the Immigration Rules. The details are in Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules HC 532.
- Applications in the UK under Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) will be restricted from tomorrow, 11 July, for those with Tier 4 or Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) leave. In particular, it will not be possible to use funds provided by venture capitalist firms. Those with Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) leave who have not been self-employed before 11 July 2014 can apply only if they have access to £50,000 from seed funding or a UK Government Department. Evidence of previous self-employment becomes much more detailed.
- IGCSE, BULATS Online, and Trinity College London's Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates in ESOL Skills for Life qualifications will be removed from the list of Secure English Language Tests from 1 August; these qualifications can be used in extension applications made in the UK before 1 August, and in entry clearance applications made outside the UK before 22 August 2014
- From 1 August, there will be a new mathematics teacher exchange scheme between England and China under Tier 5 (Government authorised exchange)
- Sections of the Immigration Act 2014 that are concerned with Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights and appealing against immigration decisions from outside the UK come into force on 28 July 2014.
