Version 3 of ‘Who pays ‘home’ fees for HE in Northern Ireland?’

01 December 2022

UKCISA’s pdf guide, ‘Who pays ‘home’ fees for higher education in Northern Ireland?’ has been updated with some very minor changes. They reflect amendments made by the Education (Student Support, etc.) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022, which ‘tidied up’ the existing regulations about fees. There are no substantive changes to the information in the pdf guide - it already anticipated these changes. If you want to see a list of these tiny changes, see page 70 of the pdf guide.

Downloading the pdf guide

Please only use Version 3 of the pdf guide from now on. It is dated 25 November 2022.

Students can download Version 3 of the pdf guide (‘Who pays ‘home’ fees for higher education in Northern Ireland?’) from the UKCISA website.  UKCISA members will probably prefer to use the member copy of Version 3 - it can be downloaded by UKCISA members from section 2.5 of the fees section of the UKCISA online manual (look in the Resources box at the bottom of the page).  It includes useful additional footnotes.

As explained at the beginning of the pdf, it is a ‘living’ document and readers should expect to see it develop over time. Please always use only the most recent version.

Ukraine Schemes, and British nationals from Afghanistan

UKCISA’s web information on Northern Ireland fee status: HE courses at HE institutions now includes full information about the 'Persons granted leave under the Ukraine Schemes' and 'Evacuated or assisted British nationals from Afghanistan' categories of ‘home’ fee-payers. The introduction of these categories was described in a UKCISA news story on 18 August 2022.
