The immigration rules were updated this morning to launch the long-awaited Graduate route, which opened for applications at 9am today.
In line with the launch, we see new guidance released for caseworkers who will be assessing applications – this is also a useful resource for those applying under the route.
Extra notes taken from the guidance have been added to UKCISA’s web page for students on the Graduate Route which contains information on the eligibility and requirements of the route.
Yesterday’s release of the guidance for Sponsors (entitled ‘Sponsor duties’) also helps institutions understand what reporting they need to do to enable a graduate to apply under the route. Students who are not clear how this will work in practice within their institutions should seek advice directly from their institution immigration advice and/or compliance team.
The Home Office have released some further information for international students on the route:
- They have released a Graduate route guide for international students available on the Gov.uk website here
- The factsheet on the Graduate route has also been updated on the Gov.uk website here.
We also await other guidance to be updated in line with this morning’s news that the Home Office intend to extend the Graduate route concession, allowing those arriving in the UK after commencing their studies to be eligible under the route. We will report when that guidance has been released.
