SEE THE BOTTOM OF THIS STORY FOR AN UPDATE ON 28 JANUARY 2021

Today (21 December 2020), the Department for Education in England (DfE) published a policy update on new eligibility arrangements for home fee status and student finance in England for the academic year starting 1 August 2021.

The update aims to provide some indication to students, fees assessors, and student finance assessors about the provisions that are likely to be in place for certain EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals and their family members to remain eligible for support on broadly the same basis as now, following promises previously made by the Government’s Universities’ Minister.

This DfE update does not go into all the detailed requirements, which will only be clear once the regulations themselves are issued, along with guidance to accompany the regulations. It is only once those regulations and accompanying guidance are issued that individuals can be certain they qualify. See our website page Brexit - fees and Student Support for more information about this.
