Fees revisited (England): a practical update
- Location:Zoom
- Date:23/04/2026
- Time:10:00 am
- Time:1.5 hours
In response to member feedback, this is a brand new webinar for 2025/26. It is designed for UKCISA members working as experienced fees assessors at institutions subject to England’s higher education fees regulations to hear from UKCISA staff and check-in with colleagues across the sector.
The webinar will:
-
remind you about the legislative basis for the ‘home’ categories, and why the fees regulations are important
-
update you on any relevant legislative changes and, if appropriate, any relevant work that UKCISA has been doing
-
remind you about key resources, in and via the UKCISA website, to help you in your day-to-day work
-
allow space for questions, clarifications, and discussion of pertinent themes
We will invite you to input or raise discussion points in advance of the course. However, we reserve the right to refer you to our members’ advice line for advice on specific cases.
We will not be addressing what counts as ‘ordinary residence’. We run a separate workshop on this subject, ‘Spotlight on ‘ordinary residence’ in fee assessments’. Members who would like to explore ordinary residence in greater depth should read more about it at the above link and attend that workshop separately.
Who should attend?
This webinar has been introduced for staff who are experienced fee assessors and who have attended our core, national programme training on HE fee assessment in England, many of whom have expressed an interest in receiving training to confirm, or to give a ‘safety-check’ to, their current day-to-day working knowledge.
This webinar is not designed for the following people, who are advised instead to book onto our training on HE fee assessment in England:
-
those who are new to a fee assessment role
-
those looking to receive a full overview of the England regulations to inform their work.
If you are from an institution in Wales or Northern Ireland, and you feel you would like a similar update to this one, rather than to attend our core, national programme training on HE fee assessment in Wales or Northern Ireland, then please get in touch with us at training@ukcisa.org.uk giving a brief summary of your current training needs.
If you are from an institution in Scotland, then please see our core, national programme training on HE fee assessment in Scotland which will be covering recent critical updates that have been made to the Scottish fees regulations and fees assessment system overall.
Suitable for: Experienced fee assessors working in England
Minimum experience level: Good working knowledge of the different ‘home’ fees eligibility categories
