We've listened to your feedback and have adapted and expanded our training program to offer a wide range of courses in 2025-26. Some highlights include:
- Student route essentials: Navigate Student immigration with confidence and clarity. Perfect for new staff or for those who want to build or consolidate their knowledge of student immigration, these courses help you to understand the requirements of the Immigration Rules and guidance, and highlight the duties involved when working in advice and compliance.
- Stop Press: Our essential flagship training event is available again in both November and May, keeping you up to date on the latest changes to the immigration rules and the guidance that follows, shortly after they are announced. Both dates will also include updates on UKCISA’s ongoing advocacy work in liaising on policies and processes with government departments.
- SU Sabbatical Officers: New for 2026, this course offers UKCISA members a general overview of how the Student immigration route can be used by those undertaking a Sabbatical officer role.
- Fees revisited: This year we’re introducing Fees revisited, a new webinar for experienced admissions staff to hear from UKCISA staff and check-in with colleagues across the sector. Based on your feedback, the session will remind UKCISA members about the legislative basis for the ‘home’ categories, provide an update on any relevant legislative changes and, remind you about key resources available.
- Spotlight on ‘ordinary residence’ in fee assessments: We know that there are some cases where issues around residence requirements can appear complex, and in need of careful consideration. Our new workshop from last year is returning, with updated content and an extended format based on your feedback, for experienced admissions staff looking to talk through ‘ordinary residence’ examples.
- From adviser to coach: This year, back by popular demand after outstanding feedback, ‘From adviser to coach’ offers an introduction to coaching techniques which you can apply immediately in your day-to-day work with students, colleagues and staff you manage.
Our training is grounded in the principles of the #WeAreInternational Student Charter, a student-led document that provides guidance on delivering an exceptional international student experience, from pre-arrival to post-graduation.
Courses provide you with the tools, skills and knowledge to implement the Charter across your work, build your career and deliver the highest level of international student experience and support on campus and beyond.
UKCISA is proud of its reputation for high-quality advice, guidance and training. Our training programme is relevant and responsive to the external policy context, with a team of experts from within UKCISA and its member network. UKCISA's Advice and Training team are registered with the Immigration Advice Authority for their provision of immigration advice.
