Join the AISA Executive Committee!

Are you passionate about supporting international students and shaping best practice across the sector? AISA (Association of International Student Advisers), one of the expert practitioner groups of UKCISA, brings together international advice professionals from Higher and Further Education institutions, Students’ Unions, and other education providers to share knowledge and influence national advocacy work.

We are looking for new members to join the AISA Executive Committee.

To apply, you must:

  • Be a current AISA member
  • Work for a UKCISA member organisation (Higher or Further Education institution, Students’ Union, or education provider)

What does the Executive Committee do?

  • Organises national events for AISA members
  • Coordinates regional networks and supports Regional Chairs to ensure regional meetings take place
  • Collects feedback and produces surveys to inform UKVI and UKCISA policy work
  • Oversees sub-groups focused on key areas such as events, communications, and member engagement

As a committee member, you’ll join 1–2 sub-groups aligned with your interests and skills where possible, including Events and Training, Members Voice, Member Communications and Governance and Membership . Sub-groups typically meet monthly (or less often), and the full Executive Committee meets online for 1 hour per month, plus one in-person meeting per year.

Why join?

  • Gain valuable experience in leadership and governance
  • Expand your professional network across the UK
  • Contribute to sector-wide improvements for international student support
  • Enhance your CV with a nationally recognised role

While we would appreciate applications from colleagues who already have experience of committees or trustee roles, Advisers at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply. We particularly encourage applications from the FE sector, Student Unions, Northern Irish and Welsh institutions. We are recruiting 5 colleagues to join Exec.

Appointment is for a term of 3 years with the option to continue for a further 3 years. You are not required to serve out your term if you wish to step down early.

To apply, please complete the application form here. If the number of applications matches or is less than the number of roles, applications will be reviewed by the AISA Executive and suitable candidates appointed. If the number of applications exceeds the number of roles, applications will be circulated to the full AISA membership for a vote. Deadline to apply is Friday the 27th of February 2026.

If you would like to discuss the role before applying please contact the Co-Chairs, Laura Bryan (l.bryan@aston.ac.uk) and Tim Goss (gosst1@cardiff.ac.uk).
