We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Peter Barnes as our new Honorary Treasurer. Peter joins the Board with immediate effect, with his first meeting in February 2024.
The Honorary Treasurer will work to ensure the financial wellbeing and future sustainability of UKCISA. This role will direct the financial strategy and reserves policy, oversee financial management, risk management, external statutory financial reporting and membership pricing decisions.
Everyone at UKCISA, and our Board of Trustees and its committees, is looking forward to working with Peter in his new role. On joining UKCISA as Honorary Treasurer, Peter says:

About Peter
Peter is Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Studyportals, an organisation well-known to those of us in the sector. He brings a wealth of relevant experience in finance and change management to UKCISA, as well as a good understanding of the sector and the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Peter is a CIMA qualified accountant with 20 years of experience in digital businesses and a strong focus on execution and results. Starting out in online recruitment, he spent 10 years with Jobsite and quickly became a key part of the senior team in this fast-growing business. His key areas of focus were, setting up and leading the business intelligence function, integrating acquisitions and guiding strategy and planning.
Following this, he served as Finance and Operations Director at Student Room Group, growing a small business into a highly respected company by both students and universities, while retaining profitable growth. As Chief Operating Officer and as Manager Director, he was responsible for the design, development and delivery of the Student Room’s strategy and guiding the transition from advertising into a data-driven business in the ever-changing education space.
Peter is an experienced, strategic, data driven leader with strong management skills and many years of Board level experience. He understands the measures of success and the approaches to bringing teams together through shared goals, recognition, ownership and responsibility.
