New Tier 4 student application forms and policy guidance
1 June 2009
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has published new Tier 4 student policy guidance and immigration application forms. If you are applying on or after 1 June, make sure you read the latest policy guidance and complete the version of the immigration form which is now on the UKBA website.
There are some changes to the immigration requirements.
- If your tuition fees and/or living costs and the living costs of your family members are paid by an official financial sponsor, you can use the letter from your official financial sponsor to show that you and your family members can meet the maintenance requirements of Tier 4. If all costs are met, this means that neither you nor your family members have to provide bank statements. Before, family members were not covered by this provision.
- If you do not have full official financial sponsorship, you have to show that you have specific sums of money and that they have been in your bank account for 28 days. There was a special provision that the fixed sum of money did not need to have been in your account for 28 days if you applied before 1 June. This deadline has now been extended to 1 October 2009.
