The Tier 4 policy guidance was changed on 1 July 2014.
However, it did not include the higher maintenance sums that were required for Tier 4 applications from 1 July.
It also listed English language qualifications, in addition to TOEIC and TOEFL, that were going to be removed from the list of Secure English Language Tests.
We queried both these matters and on 9 or 10 July the guidance was updated. The maintenance figures are now in line with the higher sums required under the Immigration Rules Appendix C. References to Cambridge International Examinations, Cambridge English and Trinity College London have been removed.
The current version of the Tier 4 policy guidance is still dated 1 July 2014 (version 07/14) and does not acknowledge that it has been changed since it was first published on 1 July. However, the Addendum, Annex 5, Annex 7 and the following paragraphs in the previous version have been changed: 44, 171, 179, 180, 191, 195, 253, 256, 257, 261, 271, 272, 283, 287, 304.
The numbering in the current version differs because paragraph 5 , in which changes were listed, has been removed; it referred to changes since 5 July 2013, which was incorrect in any event as the latest version was 6 April 2014.
Paragraph 169, which provided a link to the higher maintenance figures has also been removed as this information has now been incorporated into paragraphs 43, 177, 178, 189, 193, 251, 254, 255, 259, 269, 270, 281, 285 and 302.
There are errors in the new paragraph 169, which still refers to the old sums of £1000 and £800 and in Annex 5, which refers twice to £802 instead of £820 as the monthly sum required for Tier 4 (General) applications outside inner London.
