The new ambassadors will officially take up their posts in January 2022, joining the second cohort of 12 ambassadors. The first cohort of 8 ambassadors will finish their tenure by the end of December 2021.

Anne Marie Graham, Chief Executive, UKCISA said: “International students are at the heart of everything we do at UKCISA. We are proud to work with and learn from our student ambassadors to help deliver our vision for a world-class international student experience and drive the #WeAreInternational campaign forward.

I would like to thank the first cohort of ambassadors, who formed the inaugural group ahead of a very challenging year in early 2020. They have had a powerful impact over the past two years and provided significant support to UKCISA and the wider sector during this unprecedented time.”

Simran Mahajan, #WeAreInternational Student Ambassador, added: “As a current student ambassador and the incoming Chair of UKCISA’s Student Advisory Group, I am pleased to welcome a very diverse cohort of international students to our network.

“I look forward to working with each and every one of them to shape policy and inform practice through our knowledge and first-hand experience on important areas such as academic support, graduate employability and student mental health.”

The #WeAreInternational Student Ambassador Programme is UKCISA’s student network of global future leaders. This is an education policy and leadership development scheme for exceptional individuals from around the world who are currently studying in the UK.

UKCISA took over the stewardship of the #WeAreInternational campaign in 2019 and officially relaunched it this year with a refocused mission to celebrate the UK’s global student community – and the value of international education – in the UK.
