Student Ambassador Success

26 November 2021

We are delighted to share the recent successes of our #WeAreInternational Student Ambassadors - Adetoun Adebayo, Michelle Jideofor and Nebu George - all from our first cohort 2020-21.

Adetoun Adebayo and Michelle Jideofor

Adetoun and Michelle have been included in the Future Leaders 2021-22 list of 150 Most Outstanding African & African Caribbean Students and New Graduates in the Law and Engineering & Maths categories respectively. Both ambassadors were selected based on their academic careers in the UK, as well as demonstrating leadership in extra-curricular activities which are detailed in the magazine.

Adetoun commented: "I am very excited to have been recognized in this way and chosen out of so many applicants. I can definitely say that being a part of UKCISA was a major contribution in me being bold enough to put myself forward in this way."

Michelle commented: “One thing I have learnt over my three years in the UK is to be proactive with my professional and personal development. This has led me to take up roles and put myself in spaces that I believe have done just that. Being a part of the 150 future leaders 2021-2022 is a result of these actions and confirmation that I am on the right track, of which I am very grateful!”

Nebu George

Earlier this year, Nebu was awarded the prestigious Drapers’ Company Bronze Medal for Outstanding Postgraduate by Bangor University. Nebu was nominated by his supervisor in recognition of his research and publications, contributions to the university and work with UKCISA.

Nebu commented: “It is a great honour to be awarded the Draper's Company Medal 2021 for Outstanding Postgraduate by Bangor University.  While this medal is in recognition of my research, teaching, publication and successful campaigning over the years for positive changes in several aspects of education at Bangor, it also recognises my work as a #WeAreInternational Ambassador with UKCISA. I am very grateful to my supervisors at Bangor and UKCISA who have played a major role in my professional development leading to this award.”

Huge congratulations to Adetoun, Michelle and Nebu – these are phenomenal achievements and we can’t wait to see what’s next in store for you.
