New changes to study routes published 22 October

23 October 2020

The Home Office has published new changes to study routes which will come into force on 1 December 2020. The headline changes are:

  • The financial requirement for student route applicants will increase.
  • Short-term students will be restricted to those on English language courses between 6 and 11 months long.
  • The visitor route will enable much more study than is currently allowed.

UKCISA welcomes the increased opportunity to study in the UK under the visitor route.  Greater flexibility in being able to travel to, and study in, the UK for short periods will improve the international student experience.
