Student route essentials: Understanding financial requirements

We invite you to join Christian Adams and a member of UKCISA’s Advice and Training team in a 2.5 hour participative online session.

This session is aimed at delegates who have some basic knowledge of the Student immigration route and want to further understand the rules and guidance relating to the financial requirements within the route. The session will also consider the application of these Rules and guidance in case studies.

Aim and objectives:

The aim of this course is to gain an understanding of the financial requirements under the Student immigration route.

To achieve this aim, you will:

  • Identify the relevant Rules and guidance on financial requirements under the Student route, including the requirements on evidence
  • Know how students can meet these requirements, including exemptions on meeting the requirement and exemptions on having to provide the evidence (differentiation arrangements)
  • Consider how best to deal with problems in meeting the requirements or getting the required evidence

We will not have time to discuss areas of immigration law other than the financial requirements for Student route applicants. This means we will not be considering other Student route requirements or different immigration routes, such as Child Student, Short-term student and Visitors. These areas are covered in detail in other UKCISA courses or in our manual.

This course can be taken as a stand-alone course or in conjunction with some of our related courses, which will expand on other requirements such as academic progression and time limits. Those who want to gain a basic knowledge of the Student route may be interested in attending our course on ‘Introduction to the Student route’.

To support this course we will be introducing the use of Padlet for delegates to access and use. Padlet is an online collaboration tool, much like an online notice board, where tutors and delegates can post text, video files, images etc.

Tutors will use this space to share slides that support our online training, provide a networking space for delegates who attend the training and to follow-up on any questions that tutors take away during the training.

We look forward to using this as an additional way to engage with our attendees, and we encourage you to use this to connect with other UKCISA members. Further information on how to use Padlet will be provided alongside the joining instructions to this training.
