UKCISA Members' online symposia - Self-Isolation

It is now clear that Covid-19 has had a huge impact on international students. To help UKCISA members support them we are again running our Members’ Online Symposia. Each session will provide insights in to how other institutions are adapting, as well as opportunities to share best practice and raise concerns.

Hosted by Julie Campbell, International Student Experience and Support Coordinator at Ulster University, the aim is to discuss the challenges currently being faced in supporting students who are:

  1. first time self-isolators
  2. repeat self-isolators
  3. have completed SI but feel the experience they expected isn't reality

The session will allow us to create the following resources:

  • suggested activities with evidence of good levels of engagement
  • online resources to streamline the delivery of virtual activities
  • socially distanced outdoor activities
  • professional support networks (local or UK wide) beyond our own institution

We will start with an overview of the topic before moving to a breakout session in smaller groups. Finally, everyone will be brought back together and will share key points from their discussions.
