The most recent studies estimate that approximately 22,000 UK students are currently studying in other countries. Statistics on UK students studying abroad under the Erasmus programme are available from the British Council's Erasmus unit. An estimate of those studying outside the Erasmus programme is given by Anton Carbonell's survey of outward mobility from the UK.
