An introduction to cultural awareness and sensitivity
The course is designed to introduce issues of cultural awareness to those who work with international students. The course will encourage participants to explore assumptions about other cultures and their own, and ways of interacting more effectively with students from other cultures. The course will also explore aspects of cultural difference which may affect our interactions with students and students’ experience of living and studying in the UK. Because it is interactive and will draw extensively on participants’ own experiences, this course is limited to 20 participants.
Course aim
To increase cultural awareness and sensitivity among those working with
international students.

Participants will:
- explore the meaning of ‘culture’ and what it means to them
- increase awareness of their own cultures and of cultural diversity
