Making a Tier 4 application - FULLY BOOKED

This course will enable immigration advisers to help students make successful Tier 4 applications, and to help students identify an application that is likely to be refused, or rejected as invalid.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • help students complete and submit Tier 4 entry clearance and leave to remain applications with relevant documents
  • advise Tier 4 students on their options if an entry clearance application is refused
  • explain to applicants how some specific Tier 4 rules and concepts may affect their application: maintenance, "low risk", "established presence", the 3- and 5-year caps
  • explain to applicants how some general immigration principles, such as 'overstaying' and section 3C leave, may affect applications
  • understand and be able to explain to applicants how some general immigration principles, such as 'overstaying' and section 3C leave, may affect applications
  • advise Tier 4 students on their options if a leave to remain application is rejected or refused
  • identify how and when incorrect endorsements can be corrected
  • identify how and when students should notify the Home Office and other authorities of changes in their circumstances

This course is suitable for:

international student advisers who give students one-to-one immigration advice on completing and submitting the Tier 4 application form. It is of particular relevance to new advisers.

However, before attending this course, delegates will be expected to have attended the UKCISA training course 'Principles of Tier 4' or already understand the principles of Tier 4 of the Points Based System: please check the objectives of this course and feel free to contact the Training Administrator to discuss. If your role in a student's application is more administrative (eg issuing CAS, monitoring the outcome of applications, ensuring institutional Home Office compliance) rather than advising on the overall application and the Tier 4 application form, we advise that you attend the UKCISA training course 'Tier 4 and Sponsor Compliance' instead.
